Bust portrait of Barbé-Marbois, looking out at the viewer. He wears the crosses of the Legion of Honour. He negotiated the treaty ceding Louisiana to the United States in 1803, was named president of the Cour des Comptes in 1808 by Napoleon, and managed to keep his position under the Restoration.
