Completion Date: The Walkley structure was completed in March 1925.
Renovations:
1.The hospital expanded in 1944 to include new operating rooms, a wing for 29 unmarried mothers, and a kitchen.
2. A nurses residence and school were built in 1951 on Montclair street, with a connecting tunnel underground.
3. In 1955 an addition was made to the Walkley entrance which provided an isolation unit, office space, a staff dining room, storage space, bathrooms and sewing rooms.
4. The hospital was enlarged in 1964 with the building of a new wing on Montclair avenue which housed the patient rooms. This renovation made the Montclair entrance the principle entrance for the hospital, with the structure on Walkley serving mainly storage purposes. This renovation also joined the patient rooms to the nurses residence.
5. The nurses residence was renovated to become the Montclair Residence, a private senior's home, in 1977.
6. In 1978 the hospital changed from a maternity hospital to a rehabilitation hospital, and the necessary renovations were made in order to accommodate the new programs. These included replacing nurseries with activity areas, and replacing operating, labor and case rooms with spaces for physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
7. Handicapped washrooms and a boutique were added in 1982.
8. A garden was added in 1983, and a cafeteria in 1984.
9. The hospital expanded once again in 1994, altering slightly the renovations from the 1970's.

Organizing Institution: The founder of the hospital was Thomas H. Adams, the Commissioner of the Salvation Army in Canada. He was assisted by the Matron Captain M.L. Obert and Cadet Maggie Holman.

The capacity in 1951 was 65 beds.
The present capacity is 84 beds.
Architectural Notes: 1. The cornerstone was laid by Commissioner Sowton on June 9, 1924.
Contractor: The contractor for the Montclair wing was M.S. Kaplan.
General Notes: The Catherine Booth Hospital began as a rescue home for women on the Plateau Montreal, which opened in 1890. The hospital moved to a larger house at 520 Outremont Avenue in 1895 in order to increase capacity. The hospital moved to Walkley Avenue in 1925, and became the Catherine Booth Hospital Centre, a maternity hospital. In 1973, the hospital reorganized and renovated to become a rehabilitation centre, joined by a senior's home in 1978.
