Joe Fishstein was an active member of Local 66 of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union for most of his life. The rich social and cultural milieu of the self-educated worker and the importance of the union in a worker's life are highlighted in this section. Typical advertisements for cultural evenings, featuring events such as lectures by or about poets and other writers, are displayed. There are source materials relevant to research in social and labour history. Of particular interest are memorabilia from the I.L.G.W.U., such as election tally sheets.
