Notes:
Ascribed to le comte de Caylus; has also been ascribed to Jean-Joseph Vadé, and la comtesse de Verrue (cf. Barbier, Cioranescu (18. s.), BN, BLC, Quérard, Peeters).

Undated; apparently first published, with Troyes imprint, 1739; several other eds. with this imprint without ed. statement also recorded, including a 1745 ed. of 172 p. reported in BL integrated cat. and Bn-Opale plus; Bn-Opale plus also records a 2nd ed. with this exact imprint, but with date (1782), citing 130 p. and 132 p.; this ed. of 166 [i.e. 164], [4] p. is consistently reported with no date, including in Peeters' bib. of Caylus (in "Le comte de Caylus," 2004).

Errata on p. [1] (2nd sequence).

Signatures: A-G¹².

Page 164 wrongly numbered 166.

False imprint?: Weller gives Paris as actual place of publication for eds. cited (1739, 1749).

Woodcut frontispiece printed in bistre, t.p. in bistre and black with vignette of crossed pea-pods; head-piece, tail-pieces, initial.
