"By the historical method alone can many problems in medicine be approached profitably.
For example, the student who dates his knowledge of tuberculosis from Koch,
may have a very correct, but he has a very incomplete, appreciation of the subject."
Sir William Osler |
As physicians struggle to eradicate the last
vestiges of tuberculosis, a historical perpspective on the disease
and on its impact on society is increasingly valuable. Having access
to full texts of important historical works on the disease is one
way to do so.
McGill University's Osler Library of the History of Medicine and the McGill Library's Digital Collections Program are proposing the creation of a full-text database based on the Osler Library's holdings of works related to the subject of Tuberculosis.
This pilot project has received generous funding from the Sequella Global Tuberculosis Foundation.
