The Theatrical Space website has been a collaborative project between the Institut de Recherche en Histoire de l'Architecture (IRHA) and the Digital Collections Program of the McGill University Libraries. Its purpose is to make the original IRHA bibliography THEATRICAL SPACE AS A MODEL FOR ARCHITECTURE; A Bibliography on Ephemeral Structures, Theatrical Urban Space and the Architecture of the Stage in Modern Europe, edited by Dr. Alberto Perez-Gomez and Dr. Louise Pelletier available to the greatest possible number of interested users. The digitization of Theatrical Space has also allowed for the introduction of sample images, culled from the collections held by IRHA member institutions. Electronic links to these institutions and their catalogues are intended to maximize the access to this rich and important body of literature.

I am deeply grateful to David McKnight, Digital Collections Librarian and to Andrew Ensslen, designer of the Theatrical Space website for making the transformation into the electronic format possible.
