Cinderella

Cinderella is a well-loved fairy tale that has been told for thousands of years. Its origins can be traced to classical Greek literature. The story is that of a young girl who has received unjust treatment and then quite unexpectedly has her fortune changed to receive recognition, wealth and status – a rags-to-riches story, with a happy ending. In the 17th century, Charles Perrault added the pumpkin, fairy godmother and glass slippers to his version of the story that is familiar to us all. This section contains selections of the Cinderella stories published over three centuries.
