Description
This study of Dürer's influence on book illustration, wood-engraving and printing in 15th-century Switzerland, particularly the printer Johann Bergmann (1494-1499) in Basel, was first issued without plates as the author's inaugural dissertation in Leipzig. It contains the author's presentation inscription to Karl Koetschau on the title page and Koetschau's bookplate by Ernst Liebermann. Occasional pencil markings, probably Koetschau's, appear in the margins. It also has the ms. inscription: Dr. Max Stern, I 22 on the front flyleaf and ms. labels on the spine: 230, and: I 22 (his library classification code for individual artists).
