| This illustrated book of Correggio's paintings edited by Georg Gronau (1868-1938) is stamped both Galerie Julius Stern and Dominion Gallery. It has the ms. inscriptions: "Dr. Max Stern, 1932 Tonhallenbuchhandlung, I 70", thus indicating that he bought it at the bookstore of the concert hall (Tonhalle) in Düsseldorf in 1932. He was already working for his father's art gallery at the time. He would have added the code number (I was for individual artists in his library classification scheme) in 1937. The captions to the plates are in German, English and French.
