| Eduard von Gebhardt (1838-1925) sold his works through Galerie Julius Stern. He painted a portrait of Julius Stern around 1915, which was destroyed when Max Stern's London flat was bombed in 1940. These reminiscences about the painter, called "Uncle Eduard" in the title, are presumably by his nephew. The book contains both Galerie Julius Stern and Dominion Gallery stamps and the ms. inscription: Dr. Max Stern, with the ms. notation and spine label: I 167.
