Letter from Edward Archibald to Wilder Penfield, August 9, 1927.
Date:
1927-08-09
Description:
This is a typewritten letter from Edward Archibald to Wilder Penfield. In the letter Dr. Archibald addresses his hopes for Dr. Penfield's arrival in Montreal. He also reassures Dr. Penfield that, while the Royal Victoria Hospital’s Medical Board of Governors would not meet until the autumn of 1927, he had no reason to believe that the board would not approve of giving Dr. Penfield the position of neurosurgeon. Specifically, he mentions his hope that, with Dr. Penfield, Montreal will become the eastern North American hub for neurological research and neurosurgery, and assures Dr. Penfield that he will have all of the resources he will require to run a proper neurosugrical and neuro-research department. Dr. Archibald also strongly encourages Dr. Penfield to have Mrs. Penfield come and investigate/judge Montreal as a potential home before they decide to move from New York. This letter is dated August 9, 1927.
