Letter from Wilder Penfield to J. Simpson, June 24, 1930.
Date:
1930-06-24
Description:
This is a typewritten letter from Wilder Penfield to Dr. J. Simpson dated June 24, 1930. In the letter Dr. Penfield informs Dr. Simpson that he and his co-researchers at the that Royal Victoria Hospital had expressly ordered that cats in the hospital’s Animal House be given additional feedings to ensure that they did not loose weight as a result of experiments Dr. Penfield and others were carrying out on them. He also explains that the extra feedings had been paid for through the hospital’s Madeleine Ottmann Fund. At the bottom of the letter Dr. Penfield includes a handwritten note, which he presumably added at a later date, expressing frustration at Dr. Simpson for intervening and cancelling the additional feedings.
