Children and Sand Castles, photograph.
Date:
between 1919 and 1927
Description:
A black and white photograph of two young boys building a sand castle on a beach. They are wearing bathing suits. These are likely two of the MacQuarie family children. Their father, Thomas William MacQuarrie, had once been a teacher at, and then the principal of, the Galahad School in Hudson Wisconsin. The school had been established in part by Jean Penfield in 1905, and Wilder Penfield was one of its earliest students. This is the fifth photograph on page 104 of the 1919 - 1927 photo album compiled by Wilder Penfield.
