Helen Kermott Penfield with Wilder Penfield Jr. and Ruth Mary Penfield, photograph.
Date:
1922
Description:
A black and white photograph of Wilder Penfield Jr. crouching on the ground in front of a house porch. Helen Kermott Penfield and Ruth Mary Penfield are sitting on the porch. They are all looking at something off-camera. The location is identified in the photograph’s caption as the home or cottage of Dr. and Mrs. Barclay Parsons. Dr. Parsons was, like Dr. Penfield, a surgeon at the Presbyterian Hospital in New York. The caption also states that those in the photograph are “Watching the monkey.” Who or what the monkey is is not indicated. The photograph was taken while the Penfields were at Lawrence Beach (possibly located on Long Island, New York) between July 23 and August 29, 1922. This is the first photograph on page 60 of the 1919 - 1927 photo album compiled by Wilder Penfield.
