Letter from Wilder Penfield to Brooke Claxton, December 18, 1946.
Date:
1946-12-18
Description:
This is a typewritten letter from Wilder Penfield to Brooke Claxton, federal Minister of National Defence. In the letter, Penfield asks if Claxton would be available to be the Government representative at the ceremony marking the transfer of ownership of the Montreal Neurological Institute’s Military Annex from the military to the institute. He also congratulates Claxton on his reassignment to the position of Minister of National Defence following a federal Cabinet shuffle. He concludes by writing that, while grateful for the Annex, he is concerned that the MNI might not have the funds required to continue operating by the spring of 1947, although he does hope that the Province of Quebec and the City of Montreal might allow the institute to avoid closing by offering additional funding. The letter is dated December 18, 1946.
