Transcription of the note reads: "1.10.M, Dear Penfield, Two days ago I had the bright idea of sending you a telegram the day of the opening of the institute to wish you luck. After a (?) of 2 days I looked up the date & then found that it had taken one day for the idea to get from the subconscious to the conscious in addition to the 2 days required for "extermination" apart from this (?) I should have been in time. Best wishes anyway to you (?). I am afraid I shall not be able to (?) (?) various other people fail to materialize. (?) (?) (?). Yours sincerely, E.D. Adrian".
