Description:
This is a handwritten postcard from C.E. Cross to Wilder Penfield. In the note, written en route from Ottawa to England and the No. 1 Neurological Hospital, Cross outlines the value of pounds sterling travellers' cheques purchased under the instruction of Dr. Penfield. At the end of the note Cross writes that the other staff members with whom he was travelling had left Ottawa the night before and were currently nearing Rivière-du-Loup, Québec. The note is dated June 8, 1940.

Postcard transcription reads: "June 8. 40, Dr. W. G. Penfield, 3801 Union St. Mtl. Dear Dr. Penfield. Re the "Sterling Travellers [sic] cheques" purchased under your instructions for overseas use - I wanted you to have the numbers to obtain recovery of the funds - if by away fatality they were lost. There are eleven Canadian Pacific Express Co. Cheques. - each for 20 pounds and they are numbered serially but in 2 groups. (?) 023675 to 023679 inclusive and 027050 to 027055 inclusive - En route - and nearing Riv. du Loup. (?) (?) C.E. Cross."
