Notes:
Transcription reads: "Monday Aug. 5, 1940. Dear Dr. Penfield: Herewith another outline of what has been a rather sterile month for the unit. There is much fanning - more red tags and mostly official indifference and Canadians in the offices. (?) We would have been able to more to (?) (?) this or last week. Practically, Heinas has not!!! or we would probably be plante la with no transport to get to our station + clogged roads to navigate. Then we would assuredly be broken up into fragments - no team to rt - one to left and med officers scattered. I have tried all means to crystalize what looks to us a solution, - by getting (?) solely to the ground - which are spacious and Canadian in reality, but am told to wait - a - little. Trust you are well. I hear you have travelled [sic] lately to California (?) points hither and thither. Save our very sincere respects to Mrs. Penfield from all of us. Also earnest remembrances to Miss Flanagan and the canfreres at M.N.I. Ever Sincerely, C.E. Cross."
