Letter from Wilder Penfield to Charles F. Martin, April 2, 1940.
Date:
1940-04-02
Description:
This is a typewritten letter from Wilder Penfield to Charles F. Martin, former Dean of McGill’s Faculty of Medicine. In the letter Dr. Penfield apologizes to Dr. Martin for having forgotten about his suggestion to invite Dr. David Keys, Executive Secretary of McGill University’s War Services Advisory Board, to the Bon Voyage dinner honouring those Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) staff that will be going overseas to serve at the No. 1 Neurological Hospital. He next explains that the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) staff who were leaving to work in the No. 1 Neurological Hospital were not particularly looking forward to the prospect of moving closer to the European conflict, but believes that the Bon Voyage dinner did help morale. He also believes that the support of various McGill dignitaries, including Dr. Martin, also raised the spirits of the staff. He wishes Dr. Martin a good vacation in Virginia and hopes that he recovers from his cold soon. The letter is dated April 2, 1940.
