Description: John Ireland (ca. 1745-1839?) was a Scottish apothecary and physician who practiced in Oxford and Headington. Satirical print depicts him in fashionable clothing, holding a snuff-box and his top hat, with a bottle in his pocket that reads "Two Spoonsfull to be taken at Bed time". He wears the Scottish thistle in the breast of his coat, and another one grows in the background. At his feet there is a spilled canister of pills.
