Description: Marian Osler Bath, later Marian Francis, first cousin to William Osler and daughter of his uncle Edward Osler, an English surgeon and writer. Marian and her sister Jennette Osler visited Canada from their native England in 1866, meeting their Canadian cousins for the first time. Marian at this time was a young widow with one son. The two sisters later moved to Canada permanently with Marian's second husband, George Grant Francis. William Willoughby Francis, the first Osler librarian, was Marian's son from this second marriage.
