(Born at Neuchatel in Switzerland, April. 12th. 1762.) || Undertook a Mission to General Pichegru, when at the head of || the Republican Army of France, and addressed him in the || name of the French Princes, and succeeded in bearing to them || the assurance of the General's best intentions for the reestablish- || ment of the legitimate Government. His zeal for the cause which || he served with unremitting fidelity, caused him in 1802, to be || Imprisoned during thirty three months in the Temple at Paris, || from whence he was liberated only by the intercession, and || solicitation of His Majesty the King of Prussia.
