INTRODUCTION
Lincoln North: The Virtual Exhibit is based upon an exhibition of highlights selected from the Joseph N. Nathason Collection of Licolniana that is currently on display in the McLennan-Redpath Library Complex, McGill University Libraries. The exhibition runs from February 12 to April 12, 2002. The Nathanson collection is housed in the Rare Books and Special Collections Division. The exhibition curator, Dr. Kathleen Toomey's exhibition text is available online and accompanies the items on display in this virtual exhibit.

As Dr. Toomey notes in her printed catalogue: "Although the exhibit will appeal to the public in general, I have selected items which I hope will appeal to the youth of the University and Montreal educational institutions in particular. It is one thing to read about slavery, it is another to see actual posters advertising for slaves or posting rewards for fugitives ."

For Canadian visitors to this site the Nathanson collection will stimulate interest in the life and times of Abraham Lincoln. As for our American visitors, in particular, we take pride in sharing with you one collector's passion for the 16th President of the United States.
