Black-bellied Thorntail (Popelaria Langsdorfi). This sketch is one that was actually drawn by John Gould, probably in 1867. From sketches such as these his collaborators would create a more finished painting (see Hart).
Fire-throated Metaltail (Metallura eupogon). This drawing was done to illustrate John Gould’s A monograph of the Trochilidae, or family of humming-birds. Supplement. However, for some reason, it was never published.
